Key To Math Booklets

I ordered a resource today I hadn't used in years--some Key To workbooks from Key Curriculum Press.

While math came easily to our oldest, our daughter struggles more with math concepts. Sometimes it seems we have mastered a concept, but three days later, it's as if we never covered the material. Even in the 5th grade, there are times of complete silence when I ask, "7 + 5 equals?"

When she was in third grade, we discovered that if she was allowed to dance around, our daughter could answer math flashcards with a high degree of accuracy, but if she sat still and tried to answer on paper, it was a STRUGGLE. To me, that's an amazing piece of information.

It's fascinating to see how each person learns--and within this learning, how we learn different types of materials in different ways. Homeschooling affords us the opportunity to adjust our curriculum, schedule, and teaching methodologies.

Anyways, back to the Key To products . . . I ordered these today for my daughter, to use as a reinforcement activity. We use Teaching Textbooks, and we love it. I like their approach, the variety of problems, the rate at which it introduces new concepts. And I think there is room for the Key To books, too. We'll use them as a supplement to help reinforce concepts when I think we may be taking a few steps back in comprehension.

Depending on your child and your goal for math these could be used as a math curriculum. In my opinion, it's not as comprehensive as, say Teaching Textbooks, but if your goals is to present the basics, these might work well.
